Before 1995, the old COBA gave nothing to the spouses and children of those Correction Officers who died while on active duty with the New York City Department of Correction. Then, in that year, COBA established the Widows' & Children's Fund to take care of those precious families.

To date, the COBA Widows' & Children's Fund has raised over $100,000. Since 1996, the fund has aided over 95 families of deceased Correction Officers.

To ensure the continued success of the Widows' & Children's Fund COBA has hosted the following event:

Widows' & Children's Dinner Dance was created so that the partners and children of our fallen comrades will never be forgotten. This event has raised thousands of dollars to support the fund.

Widows and Children’s Dance has distributed over $700,000 since 1995.
