It is the desire of the Election Committee (“EC”) that all members of COBA have a full and fair opportunity to vote for Executive Officers and Delegates of the Union. Based on the number of replacement ballots requested and issued, caused primarily by the failure of the DOC to maintain a current and up-to-date command assignment list, along with the EC’s desire to eliminate any basis for post-election challenges to the legitimacy of the election, the EC has determined it is in the best interest of all concerned that the 2024 Supplemental Rules and Election Procedure be amended as follows:
(i) The time in which members may request a replacement ballot from AAA is hereby extended from June 10 to June 17, 2024, and
(ii) The balloting period to allow ballots to be received at the designated post office box is hereby extended from June 20 to June 27, 2024, and
(iii) The count of ballots returned shall commence at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Jericho Terrace, 249 Jericho Turnpike, Mineola, NY 11501.
Further, the EC hereby requests that the COBA President deem the foregoing “good cause” and exercise his authority to change the date of the June 2024 Regular Meeting of the Association from June 20, 2024, to June 27, 2024.
