Members of the COBA Executive Board joined the DOC family at Rikers Island for the Department’s annual 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony, where the names of Captains Jacqueline Payden, Raul Gonzalez and Thomas Weadock were added to the memorial honoring members of New York City’s BOLDEST lost to 9/11 related illnesses.
Our Correction Officers were there when this city needed them on September 11th, working in the rescue and recovery efforts and breathing the same toxic air that has continued taking far too many lives nearly 25 years later.
COBA will never allow their service to be overlooked or their sacrifice to be forgotten. We were proud to stand with their families and honor three more members of the BOLDEST whose names will now forever be part of this memorial.
