About MICHAEL MAIELLO
Michael is a 22 years veteran of the New York City Correction Department. He began his career at GMDC followed by assignments at VCBC, Central Storehouse and most recently, the Intelligence Unit where in 2008 he was elected as the COBA Delegate.
Prior to his appointment as a COBA Executive Board Member, Michael was the President of the Correction Department’s Columbia Association. As a result of his appointment to the COBA Executive Board in March 2010, Michael has since resigned the Presidency of the Columbia Association but remains a strong supporter of all the fraternal groups within the Department.
Respected by his peers, supervisors and the Department’s Executive Staff, Michael is devoted to New York City Correction Officers and is committed to giving his undivided attention and efforts to all COBA members.
As COBA Treasurer, Michael is responsible for managing the $90 million dollars of the Union’s Funds. He is responsible for the overall budget and financial strategy of the General Fund, Security Funds, Annuity Fund, Legal Representation Fund, COBA’s Widows and Children Fund and the Scholarship Fund.
Michael currently oversees Anna M. Kross Center (AMKC), Correction Intelligence Bureau (CIB) and Investigation Division (ID).
