28TH ANNUAL COBA/CARL RACHLIN SCHOLARSHIP 2024
It is time to apply for the 2024 Carl Rachlin Scholarship. The COBA Scholarship Fund provides $1,000 Awards! In its early years, the scholarship was only awarded to the dependents of Correction Officers. Through generous donor support, the fund has expanded its scope and now offers this scholarship to Correction Officers who are continuing their education as well as Retirees. Carl Rachlin was a Labor and Civil Rights attorney who was a champion for racial equality. This scholarship is being awarded in recognition of his work.
THE $1,000 SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AWARDED BASED ON THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:
- Children of Correction Officers
- Correction Officers that are students
- Retired Correction Officers
- Dependants between the ages of 5 to 19
- up to 23 if enrolled in college
- Bursar receipt required as proof of college attendance; if not submitted you’ll be disqualified
The strength of our scholarship fund is reflected by the unprecedented $996,000 in scholarships that have been awarded over the past 28 years. Since its inception in 1996, the COBA Scholarship Fund has provided a total of 996 scholarships.
We encourage you to fill out the application and return it as soon as possible.
All applications must be received by December 18, 2024 with the attached verification of student status. The lottery drawing will be held on December 20, 2024.
Please note that this is a one-time scholarship award. Previous winners are not eligible. Winner need not be present.
